The University of Iowa Center for Diversity & Enrichment is seeking a qualified candidate for a Multicultural Counseling Coordinator for the Trio Student Support Services program, New Dimensions in Learning, to counsel and provide academic support services to eligible students and to develop programs and serve as resource person for academic skill development.
Required qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience; Reasonable experience (1-3 years) providing academic support in a post-secondary educational setting to first-generation, low-income, students with disabilities, or U.S. ethnic minority students; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Possess a valid motor vehicle driver’s license and meet the University Fleet Safety Program requirements (University of Iowa Operations Manual Part V, Chapter 19).
Desirable qualifications: Master’s degree in student development or higher education; Experience in counseling or advising college/university students from diverse U.S. ethnic backgrounds; Experience in programming, tutoring or classroom teaching at the university level; Experience using technology for preparing presentations, recording student contact notes, and managing a case list of students.
