ISPA Job Search Summit

Join us for the 2010 ISPA Job Search Summit at the Holiday Inn - Ames Iowa

Summit Date: Friday, February 5, 2010
Time: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Location: Iowa State University (room location TBA)
Registration Deadline: Friday January 22, 2010 (career documents must be submitted by Monday Jan. 25, 2010)

Intended Audience:

For graduate students or new professionals in higher education seeking advice, direction, and support from other professionals currently in the field for an upcoming job search.

Registration Fee: (includes lunch and resources)

$15 for current ISPA members

$20 for non-ISPA members (Consider becoming a member.  You can become a member during registration for the summit)

Creating resumes, writing strong cover letters, interview practice, networking...these are all critical steps to preparing yourself to be a strong candidate during the job search process. We want to help you prepare for these steps. When you register, we ask that you submit a sample resume and cover letter.

Tips for Making the Summit a Successful Experience:

·         Come with an open mind! The more you are willing to learn, the more you will learn.

·         Prepare career documents in advance. All you need is a draft of a resume and cover letter, but the more you have to work with by the summit, the more feedback you will receive!

·         Begin looking for jobs. What's out there now? Job postings are updated frequently, so you may want to review them frequently. You would not want to miss any great opportunities!

·         Be prepared to do a mock interview! Deans and upper level administrators will be on hand to do mock interviews with participants.

·         Come with Friends! Are there others at your institution preparing for a job search? Come together and use the traveling time as time to discuss plans and ideas with one another.
